About the artist: Ad van Hassel

Ad van Hassel (Roosendaal, 1953) is a Dutch artist who began painting in 1980, after years of going through various creative disciplines. In 1983, he opened two exclusive galleries in the Sonesta and Krasnapolsky hotels in Amsterdam. Since 1990, Ad has used screen printing, both for his own work and that of other artists. He was Herman Brood’s regular printer for 12 years and also worked with other big names such as Corneille, Jan Cremer, Rob Scholte, Shunyam and Peter Diem.

After the death of such luminaries as Herman Brood and Corneille, Ad turned his expertise to a new technique: CNC laser cutting and milling of various materials. With these, he creates the insanely colored sculptures that are highly sought after by art lovers at home and abroad today.
