About Francisca Kalmijn
Francisca Kalmijn has been painting for more than 25 years, specializing in portraits, landscapes and water features. With a strong urge to create, she has created hundreds of paintings since studying at the Utrecht Art Academy. She finds her inspiration in nature, a passion she shared with her grandfather on hikes from a young age.
Unique style and inspiration
Francisca’s paintings are recognizable by their colorful depiction of light reflections in water. Mysterious reflections, the waterfront and flowers are recurring elements in her work. Her greatest challenge is capturing the special Dutch light, which reflects in different colors through the seasons. The Dutch masters are an important source of inspiration for her.
Abstract approach
In recent years, Francisca has also developed a more abstract style of painting. Despite this abstraction, color reflections in light and water remain an important stylistic aspect of her work. This gives her paintings a unique and recognizable signature.
