Jochem de Graaf, living and working in Bunschoten, is a passionate self-taught artist. His process and use of materials add a unique dimension to his paintings, with relief giving depth and texture. The influence of light and shadow further emphasizes this. Jochem has an extensive collection and paints a wide range of subjects, including (female) figures, flowers, landscapes and cities/villages, all in his recognizable style. His artworks are sometimes constructed with modeling paste and are always made with oil paint on linen canvases. He applies the paint with a putty knife, a thick brush or a spatula, and refines it with smaller tools.
