A striking artwork by Karin Vermeer is “Cloud,” a fusion of photographic techniques and acrylic on linen. The artwork is treated with different types of textured pastes, resulting in a stunning effect. It looks like the model’s head is surrounded by a beautiful cloud, which perfectly justifies the name “Cloud” for this particular piece. Stretched on high-quality linen with painted-through sides, the artwork is ready to show off on your wall. Each of Karin’s works is handmade, guaranteeing uniqueness, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Karin shares her artistic process, “My work is a mix of different photos/images and paint that I combine on the computer and canvas to create a new representation. My favorite subject is the female face, using photographs of people, old walls, grunge posters and all sorts of other interesting subjects to create a new image. Once the digital part is done, the image is printed, then I begin painting. I build the artwork with many layers of texture, gels and paint over it, trying to make the digital image tangible.

My work is not so much about explanation and concept, it is a game and is all about the image. Generally, I start out pretty blank, but by looking at images that interest me and mixing them together, a new image slowly emerges. All works are made upon request in any size. Most of these works are a mix of print, paint, grain gel, heavy gel and matte or glossy varnish. The works are handmade, individually slightly different and in an edition of up to 25 pieces, numbered and signed.”
