Patrice Balma was born in 1979 and is from Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). After being a street vendor, Balma began bronze casting in 1998 with Ali Nikiéma, a recognized artist in Burkina Faso.

Since 2001, he has headed the National Center for Crafts and Art in Ouagadougou (VAO). In 2012, he opened he own gallery, Burkin'Art, in which he exhibits his works. Amersfoort Art has some particularly beautiful bronze sculptures by Patrice Balma in its collection.
