Toon Tieland’s artworks are now quite scarce. We were recently able to get our hands on a very nice original painting by Toon Tieland from 2001. The artwork, oil on linen, without frame has a size of 60x70cm and is in very good condition. You are welcome to visit our gallery in Amersfoort to view the artwork. Online purchasing is also a possibility and we also ship abroad, please feel free to contact us about this.
It was no coincidence that painter Toon Tieland competed for the title “Greatest Amersfoortter of All Time” during the city’s 750th anniversary in 2009. With his colorful, accessible work and extremely amiable character, he became an icon and ambassador of Amersfoort in the course of the twentieth century. Tieland was a true son of this city, where he was born and also died. But his main inspiration was Flanders, the land of writer/artist Felix Timmermans, whose books dragged him through the war, and of the painters from picturesque Sint-Martens-Latem on the Leie River.
