Steve McQueen was an American film actor who was born on March 24, 1930 and died on November 7, 1980. One of the most iconic actors of the 1960s and 1970s, he was known for his tough, cool image and his roles in numerous classic films.
Some of his most famous films are:
“The Great Escape” (1963) 2: In this film, McQueen played the role of Captain Virgil “The Cooler King” Hilts, an Allied POW involved in an escape attempt from a German POW camp during World War II.
“Bullitt” (1968) 2: This is one of McQueen’s most iconic films, in which he played the role of police officer Frank Bullitt. It is best known for its spectacular chase scene through the streets of San Francisco.
3, “The Thomas Crown Affair” (1968): In it, McQueen played the role of charming millionaire Thomas Crown, who becomes involved in a daring robbery of a bank.
4. “Papillon” (1973): McQueen starred with Dustin Hoffman in this film, in which they portrayed two prisoners trying to escape from a high-security prison on Devil’s Island.
Steve McQueen is also known for his love of auto racing and motorcycling, and he was a talented driver. His career was marked by a string of blockbusters and he was considered one of the biggest movie stars of his time.
