Herman Brood was a Dutch musician, painter and media personality best known for his eccentric lifestyle and contributions to the Dutch rock scene. He was born Nov. 5, 1946, in Zwolle and died July 11, 2001.

Brood began his musical career as a pianist and singer in several bands, including Cuby + Blizzards. However, he only gained real fame as the frontman of his own band, Herman Brood & His Wild Romance, in the 1970s and 1980s. The band had several hits, including "Saturday Night" and "Never Be Clever."

In addition to his musical talent, Bread was also a talented painter. His paintings were often characterized by colorful and vibrant compositions, and his work was exhibited internationally.

Herman Brood was also known for his frank attitude toward drug use and his tumultuous personal life, which often made the media. He struggled with drug addiction throughout his life and eventually committed suicide by jumping from the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel in 2001.

Brood remains an iconic figure in Dutch pop culture, known for his musical contributions, his art and his colorful personality. His legacy lives on in his music, his paintings and the memory of his uniqueness.
