Impressions artworks by Emiliana Cordaro

She finds her inspiration in the landscapes, towns and villages she visits during her travels. From small Italian villages to the great European moors and everything in between. In her work, the atmosphere of the landscape is much more important than the precise representation of reality. She transforms the landscape into a composition of shapes, lines, colors and contrasts.

Using bright pigments, she creates living colors reminiscent of William Turner's later work. By modeling paint and pigment in layers true the clay, she models highly atmospheric sometimes transparent images that make the original landscape come alive.

The richly applied paint and pigments result in a thickly layered painting with amazing depth and texture where, like a good wine, you need time to fully appreciate it. Although the work is overtly modern, it still has a classic feel thanks in part to the beautiful "Dutch skies.
