About the artwork “Flint”

Flint is a wonderful portrait of Karin Vermeer and the “little sister” of Dark Flint. The beautiful, warm hues give a great look to any interior. The artwork is a combination of photographic techniques and acrylic on linen and is worked with various types of textured pastes, giving it a stunning look. Stretched on quality linen with the sides painted through, this artwork can be hung directly on the wall.

The vision of Karin Vermeer

Karin Vermeer: “My work is a mix of different photographs/images and paint that I combine on the computer and canvas to create a new representation. My favorite subject is the female face. I use pictures of people and old walls, grunge posters and all kinds of other interesting subjects to create another new image. When the digital part is finished, the image is printed and I start painting over it. I create the artwork with many layers of texture, gels and paint over it. In this way I try to make the digital image tangible again. My work is not so much about explanation and concept, it is a game and everything is about the image. I generally start out pretty blank, but by looking at images that interest me and by mixing them, a new image slowly emerges. All works are made on request in any size. Most of these works are a mix of print, paint, grain gel, heavy gel and matte or glossy varnish. The works are handmade, individually slightly different and in an edition of up to 25 pieces, numbered and signed.”
