Ziggy is an intriguing work of art by Karin Vermeer. It combines photographic techniques with acrylic on linen. The warm colors and gold tones, along with the addition of textured pastes, result in a captivating whole. The canvas raises questions about what is going on around her head, and it invites visual and tactile exploration. Karin uses quality linen with the sides carefully painted through, allowing the artwork to be hung directly on the wall. Handmade by Karin, all her artworks show subtle difference. Amersfoort Art has the largest collection of artworks by Karin Vermeer in the Netherlands and cordially invites you to our gallery in Amersfoort. Please feel free to contact us to inquire about the availability of specific works.

Karin shares her creative process, “My work is an amalgamation of various photographs/images and paint that I combine on the computer and canvas to create a new representation. My favorite subject is the female face. I use photographs of people and old walls, grunge posters and various other fascinating subjects to form ever new images. Once the digital part is complete, the image is printed and I start painting. I build the artwork with several layers of texture, gels and paint. In this way, I try to make the digital image tangible again. My work is not so much about explanation and concept; it is a game and everything revolves around the image. I usually start with a blank canvas, but by looking at images that intrigue me and combining them, a new image gradually emerges. All works are made upon request in any size. Most of these works are a mix of print, paint, grain gel, heavy gel and matte or glossy varnish. Handmade, each work is individually slightly different and is released in an edition of up to 25 pieces, numbered and signed.’
