About the artist – Hans Jochem Bakker

Hans Jochem Bakker (born 1948) lives and works in the Netherlands. A self-taught artist coming from an old artistic family, he has been inspired by such luminaries as Salvador Dalí, Miró and Picasso. These influences can be seen in his subject matter, with a particular interest in bullfighting, birds, horses and women.

In his early period, Bakker mainly followed the style of Salvador Dalí, with mystical and nightmarish images that resulted in highly detailed and cleverly painted visions. Later he developed a more expressionistic working method, in which he freed himself from his self-imposed restrictions. This new style is characterized by spontaneous, honest and passionate expressions, in which everything is in motion. This makes each painting a unity of form, color and movement.

Discover the boundless joy and craftsmanship of Hans Jochem Bakker in “Geisha III” and add a unique piece to your art collection.
