About Hans Jochem Bakker
Hans Jochem Bakker (born 1948) is a self-taught artist from the Netherlands, coming from an old artist family. Inspired by such luminaries as Salvador DalÃ, Miró and Picasso, he incorporated elements of their southern temperament into his work. His themes include bullfighting, birds, horses and women.
In his early period, he mainly followed the style of Salvador DalÃ, with mystical and nightmarish images that were extraordinarily detailed and cleverly painted. Later his style evolved into a more expressionistic approach, freeing himself from his self-imposed limitations. His new works exude unbridled joy and spontaneity straight from the artist’s passionate heart.
