About the artist

Caspar van Houten (Antwerp, 1966) is a renowned Belgian painter with a strong Flemish background. After a career as a teacher and graphic designer, he has focused entirely on painting in recent years. This has taken his work to a new level.

The recognizable style of Caspar van Houten

Van Houten is known for his unique style: simple shapes, powerful contours and vibrant colors. His paintings exude energy and character and are instantly recognizable.

During his artistic development, Van Houten focused less on academic perfection and more on exploring feeling, memory and perception. His work often moves between abstraction and figuration, with color and texture playing a central role. Influences from urban environments, human interaction and fleeting moments are frequently found in his compositions.

Van Houten works primarily with painting, but also experiments with mixed media. His studio practice is characterized by a process-oriented approach: works emerge in layers, where earlier stages remain visible and contribute to the final depth of the work.
