Eternal Wilderness is a small, but impressive, painting from Emiliana’s latest Landscape Miniature series. A series of original paintings in oil in which Emiliana depicts her signature features in a small work of art. The size is 18 x 24cm and the canvas is 4cm thick. Therefore, this also makes it possible to put the artwork down. The work is made with thick layers of oil paint on high quality linen, carefully stretched over a sturdy frame. This artwork is painted on the sides and can be hung without a frame. This artwork is obviously a one-of-a-kind and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Emiliana Cordaro, born in Maarssen in 1967 and a graduate of the Utrecht School of the Arts, creates impressionistic oil paintings of various landscapes. Her work is inspired by the places she encounters during her travels, from small Italian villages to vast European moors.
The unique style of Emiliana Cordaro
Cordaro’s work focuses on the atmosphere of the landscape, more important than an exact reproduction of reality. She transforms the landscape into a composition of shapes, lines, colors and contrasts. The use of vibrant pigments creates colors reminiscent of William Turner’s later work. Modeling paint and pigment in layers, similar to working clay, results in highly atmospheric and sometimes transparent images, bringing the original landscape to life.
Depth and texture
The abundantly applied paint and pigments result in a richly layered painting with depth and texture, similar to appreciating a good wine over time. Although clearly modern, the work retains a classical feel, thanks in part to the beautiful “Dutch skies.
