Hans Jochem Bakker (b. 1948) lives and works in the Netherlands and comes from an old artistic family. His work shows a particular interest in bullfighting, birds, horses and women.
An evolution in style and expression
In his early period, Bakker mainly followed in the footsteps of Salvador Dalí, with subject matter full of mystical and nightmarish images. This produced highly detailed and handsomely painted visions. Later, his method evolved into a more expressionist style. This change marked a liberation from his self-imposed limitations and brought a new, unbridled joy to his work.
