About the artist Jochem de Graaf
Jochem de Graaf, living and working in Bunschoten, is a self-taught artist with a great passion for painting. His unique way of working and use of materials give his paintings a special dimension. The relief in his works creates tremendous depth, which is further emphasized by light and shadow effects. Jochem paints a wide range of subjects, including figures, flowers, landscapes and cities, all in his recognizable style. His artworks are often set up with modeling paste and produced with oil paint on linen canvases. He applies the paint with a putty knife, thick brush or spatula, followed by refinement with smaller tools.
