About the artist
Jochem de Graaf, living and working in Bunschoten, is a self-taught artist with a great passion for painting. His method and use of materials add a special dimension to his paintings, with relief creating a profound sense of depth. This is further emphasized by the light and shadow effects.
Jochem has an extensive body of work and paints a wide range of subjects. In addition to (female) figures, he also enjoys painting flowers, landscapes and cityscapes/villages, all in his recognizable style. The artworks are sometimes set up with modeling paste and are all made with oil paint on linen canvases. He applies the paint with a putty knife, thick brush or spatula, and refines it with smaller tools.
