Jochem de Graaf, based in Bunschoten, is a passionate artist and self-taught exemplar. His unique process and use of materials add a special dimension to his paintings; the relief creates a remarkable depth. The way light and shadow play further emphasizes this.
Jochem has an extensive collection and paints a wide range of subjects, ranging from (female) figures to flowers, landscapes and cities/villages, all in his recognizable style. His artworks are sometimes built with modeling paste and are all made with oil paint on linen canvases. He applies paint with putty knives, thick brushes and spatulas, and refines his work with smaller tools.
