About the artist: Yulia Muravyeva
Yulia Muravyeva, born in Russia and living in the Netherlands since 2010, discovered her talent for drawing and painting at an early age, which came as a big surprise to her parents. Her fascination with mixing colors dates back to her childhood. She later studied at university to become a drawing teacher in the classical arts, focusing on restoring paintings and painting icons. Yulia’s paintings are unmistakable. Her works with colorful fields of flowers are always refreshing and joyful. She paints in an abstract style, where the flower buds are on the canvas with thick layers of paint, as well as in a more detailed style. The background always shows beautiful color transitions, evoking a positive and warm feeling. Although her work is becoming more modern and abstract, hints of classical influences can still be seen at times. The thickness of the flowers gives the artworks an extra dimension, which is difficult to capture in photographs.
