About the artist
Hans Jochem Bakker (born 1948) lives and works in the Netherlands. A self-taught artist from an old artistic family, he has been inspired by such luminaries as Salvador Dalí, Miró and Picasso. This influence is evident in his work, with a particular interest in bullfighting, birds, horses and women.
In his early period, Bakker mainly followed the themes of Salvador Dalí, with mystical and nightmarish images. This resulted in highly detailed and extraordinarily cleverly painted visions. He later developed a more expressionistic style, fully embracing his creative freedom. His work since then radiates unbridled joy at this liberation.
With a spontaneous, honest and passionate approach, Hans Jochem Bakker continues to paint. A unity of form, color and movement, his works are a dynamic addition to any art collection.
